Welcome to the Bosun's Locker.
The Bosun's Locker contains forgotten about treasures and artifacts from the past. With official records, personal information and accounts,
many years of research both in the United Kingdom and the United states are contained here. The information is compiled through tens of thousands of reports - heavy weather, damage, accidents, also instructions - Chief Officer's etc., Loaded Condition Reports, Boat Muster reports, and many more.
Also are thousands of log entries from the ship's logs, signal logs, passage books (which fill in the gaps where logs are missing). And an equal number of inter-departmental memorandum including those from Liverpool, Southampton, etc. An additional feature starting in the 1950s is the minutes from the Engineer Officer's Committee which took place in Liverpool. These are interesting as they give an annual perspective from the management's point of view regarding transatlantic passenger shipping in a rapidly changing world. There are also many other items included here.
For the most part this is all compiled in chronological order. No small task. Indexing is still taking place of all the information. As time goes on more and more will be added.
Please prepare to spend some time with us and get to know the way of life - the way it truly was, often in the words of the crew, officers and shoreside staff them selves.
Based primarily on the life of RMS Queen Mary, the other liners of the Cunard Line appear through out these pages. Please Enjoy.
